China to strengthen its weak strategic petroleum reserve

The construction of the 4 national petroleum storage bases in Dalian, Qingdao, Zhenhai and Zhoushan has started in 2004, which after completion, will store 30 days?oil reserve, about 10 million tons, all imported.
It is said that the State Council is discussing the legislation of Regulations of State Strategic Petroleum Reserve Management, though formulation of an Energy Law is yet to be put on the agenda.
A complete national petroleum reserve will have a strong impact on the market, and it won't matter whether the oil is imported or not. However, China's reserve won't affect the market very much due to its small scale.
